Tottenham Hotspur could still see Antonio Conte put pen to paper on a new deal in north London depending on results over the next month or so.

What’s the latest?

Conte’s time in north London is set to expire at the end of this season with the Italian only signing an 18-month deal when he joined back in 2021.

The Lilywhites do hold the option to extend his stay by an extra year and there has been the hope he would put pen to paper on an even longer deal.

However, recent reports have suggested this may now not be the case with the Italian potentially looking to cut his ties with the Lilywhites at the end of the season to return to Italy where his family resides.

But speaking to Football FanCast, insider Dean Jones has suggested a run of good form could potentially see Conte’s mood change over a possible extension in north London:

“If he suddenly turns around results in the next few weeks and suddenly is feeling good again, then there’s every chance we get back to the feeling of a month or so ago when Tottenham were in the process, during the World Cup, of trying to extend his contract.”

Change of heart

It has become pretty apparent over the last couple of weeks that the Italian is becoming increasingly frustrated in his role at Tottenham.

Conte has had a difficult past few months off the field with unexpected losses to close friends and perhaps that is seeping through into his work at Spurs.

The Italian also lives away from his wife and daughter who still reside in Italy which frequently sees Conte jet off back to his homeland to spend time with them.

And when results are going the way they have been in recent months, it is understandable to see why Conte may be questioning his future at Spurs.

However, we do think it is worth mentioning Gary Neville’s comments from Monday night where he suggested Conte should actually be grateful for the opportunity he has at Spurs.

And we think there is some truth in this. The likelihood of any other Premier League side wanting him at the moment feels low and the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are unlikely to take him off Tottenham’s hands.

Yet there is still this feeling that perhaps Spurs are punching above their weight with him at the helm when in reality he has a real opportunity to make something of this talented Spurs squad.

Spurs shone in the second half of last season and there is no reason that they cannot have a strong end to the current campaign.

The Lilywhites still have the Champions League and FA Cup to play for whilst only sitting three points off the top four spots in the Premier League.

And if Conte can lead Spurs to his second FA Cup, it would be interesting to see whether his reported mood about his future would change.

Crystal Palace are ready to battle Premier League rivals Everton for Aston Villa striker Danny Ings, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

The Lowdown: Lack of goals for Palace

Patrick Vieira’s side have struggled to score on a regular basis so far this season, netting just 17 times in as many Premier League games.

That is the fewest of any of the top 14 teams in the division, with Wilfried Zaha leading the way for the Eagles with six top-flight goals. That’s the same amount as Ings, who appears to be of real interest to the Selhurst Park hierarchy, has managed.

Nixon shared a story for The Sun late on Saturday evening regarding Ings and Palace, claiming that Vieira would take him on loan or in a cut-price permanent deal.

The reporter added that the Eagles are ready to fight Everton in the race for the 30-year-old, who has been called a ‘special’ player by Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.

The Verdict: Makes sense?

Ings, who is sponsored by Nike, has scored four goals in his last three league starts but appears to have dropped down the pecking order under Unai Emery.

The 30-year-old’s last start came against Brighton two months ago prior to the break for the World Cup, and he has had to make do with a place on the bench in recent weeks.

He has plenty of Premier League experience (187 appearances) and still knows where the back of the net is judging by his goal tally this season, so a move this month could be a wise one by Palace, although they may need to act fast given Everton’s simultaneous interest.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui has already begun his revolution at the Molineux outfit, securing his first signing with Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha, initially on loan from Atletico Madrid.

This is just the beginning for the Spaniard, with January expected to be filled with plenty of new faces as well as a few players exiting the club who have no future in the Midlands.

One player who has been recently linked with the Old Gold is Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres according to a report from The Telegraph and he could be an excellent addition to Lopetegui’s side, especially considering his form this season.

The 24-year-old is joint-top of the Championship goalscoring charts having netted 12 goals already this season and with Wolves urgently requiring someone who can actually put the ball in the back of the net with ease, having scored just ten goals in the Premier League this season, signing Gyokeres could be a wise investment.

Imagine him and Cunha

Lopetegui could even form a dream duo by landing the Swede and playing him alongside Cunha and this is surely a partnership that would guarantee goals in the second half of the season.

After all, the Sky Blues striker has been dubbed a player “with a hunger to score goals” by his manager Mark Robins and with Diego Costa and Hee-chan Hwang failing to score between them this season, new attacking options remain a priority.

Despite failing to score this season, Cunha has scored 39 goals in his club career so far along with 19 for several underage Brazil sides, however, by grabbing four assists last season and creating five big chances, he could be the ideal foil for Gyokeres.

The 11-cap Swedish international appears to be the more out-and-out goal scorer of the two, netting 64 goals in his club career and if Lopetegui could find a way to incorporate both of them then it could prove to be a masterstroke by the manager.

January could be an exciting month for the Molineux faithful and if Lopetegui manages to sign the players he thinks will improve the starting XI, then there could be life in the club yet.

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is now ‘pretty set’ on leaving the club, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the Irons, but Chelsea are now said to have the edge in the race for his signature, given his previous affiliation with the club.

The Verdict: Blow for West Ham

It is no secret just how vital the midfielder is for David Moyes’ side, having averaged a 7.19 SofaScore rating in the Premier League last season, the highest of any player in the West Ham squad.

Over 13 La Liga appearances this season, the £58k-per-week ace – who was hailed “extraordinary” by Portugal chief Paulo Bento – has scored two goals and successfully completed 75% of his dribbles, as well as averaging 1.2 tackles, 60 touches and winning 4.2 duels per game.

Not only that, Carvalho also ranks in the top 10% of his positional peers in the top five European leagues for progressive passes and dribbles completed and the top 20% for both pass completion and non-penalty goals over the last 365 days.

With that being said, if Newcastle can secure the signing of Carvalho at the right price in January, it would be a great piece of business and the player could be a valuable asset to the team in their pursuit of trophies and success.

The Verdict: Good to see

Some may have thought that another operation would have put a setback when it comes to Dallas’ return, but it looks as if he is doing well and could play a part in the second half of the season.

A New Year return would give the club a big boost, and for Dallas personally, it would be a significant accomplishment, especially as one pundit believed his career could be over back in May.

One of the most recent success stories to rise out of the Liverpool youth team is Trent Alexander-Arnold, but since Jurgen Klopp has arrived his eye for thriving talent combined with the scouting team’s thorough recruitment routine has seen the club turn players signed into superstars.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Andy Robertson are just some of the players who didn’t cost a fortune to sign but developed into seasoned professionals who win trophies season after season, with the first ever Premier League title won in 2020 a testimony to the team built by Klopp and the powers at Anfield.

However, there has been a constant at the club over the many years of success and that is talent brewing in the U18s, U21s and U23s on the Red side of Merseyside, and there is one player, in particular, who is capturing the attention of the Liverpool boss.

Ben Doak joined the Liverpool academy only this summer from Celtic and has already been hailed by Klopp when he spoke out on the Scottish champions:

“Celtic are doing really well and the Scottish game is full of talent. We have another Scottish boy in Calvin and another big talent in the under-18s (Doak), so it’s a cool place to scout again.”

The 16-year-old who was hailed “fantastic” by Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, has been proving himself to be an absolute nuisance for opponents in both the Liverpool U18 and Liverpool U19 teams with four goals and three assists already tallied up in just eight appearances.

More recently the youngster displayed his talents against Rangers in the UEFA Youth League, contributing to the team’s 4-1 thrashing of his former rivals scoring the second goal in the 26th minute of the clash earlier this week.

With that being said, the future is looking bright for Doak at Liverpool and he could very easily become one of the next superstars to break through into the senior team if he continues to dominate in his position in the youth teams.
