Lalit Modi, the former IPL chairman, has sought clarity on several points from the regional passport office in Mumbai over the notice issued by it earlier this month, including the deadline and the basis for the notice. He has also said through his lawyer that, though travelling abroad, he was not absconding.The notice was sent after the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which looks into foreign exchange violations, wrote to India’s external (foreign) affairs ministry on October 5 asking it to revoke Modi’s passport since he had not appeared before the ED to answer allegations of financial irregularities.Modi’s counsel Mehmood Abdi said that, before filing his reply, Modi needed to know the ED’s reference to the RPO, following which the notice was issued, and the documents on which the RPO based its notice.Modi has 15 days to reply to the notice and, though it was issued on October 15, Abdi said this period should start from the date of receipt of the notice, which was October 20. “According to us, the deadline expires on November 4. We sent the RPO a letter on October 26 seeking clarification but there has been no reply.” Abdi said he had also sent a reminder to RPO today but has not received a response.Modi has been living abroad for the past few months and said he fears for his life. “There is a threat to his life and he will not return till the situation changes,” Abdi said. He denied that Modi was absconding and said he was communicating with the ED and other authorities from London.Two days ago Abdi had said that his client was ready for interrogation by the ED in London and would bear the expenses of ED personnel travelling there to question him.The ED is examining whether Modi violated the Foreign Exchange Management Act during his time as IPL commissioner. Earlier this month, the directorate issued a blue corner alert for Modi, which makes it mandatory for law-enforcement agencies around the world to detain him wherever they spot him and inform the ED accordingly.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke claimed that the 19-cap England international will be a wanted man should he decide to move on from Elland Road.

The journalist said: “If Kalvin Phillips does decide to leave Leeds this summer, there’s going to be a big race for his signature.

“I’m sure Leeds would love to keep hold of him as well.”

The verdict: At all costs

Unfortunately, without top-flight football, it seems certain that Phillips would leave Elland Road at the end of the season, despite the local hero’s strong affiliation with the club.

The combative midfielder has endured an injury-hit 2021/22 campaign, making just 19 appearances across all competitions. However, now that he’s back to fitness for the crucial run-in, Jesse Marsch may well turn to the £50m-rated Englishman to inspire the Yorkshire club to safety.

Having already amassed 230 appearances for his boyhood club, any move away will have to meet the club’s demands and will likely come with a heavy heart. Meanwhile, a switch to arch-rivals Manchester United could already be off the table out of respect to the Whites’ faithful, which would at least soften the blow if Phillips does move on in the summer.

Ben Hilfenhaus is set to join Mitchell Johnson on the sidelines for Friday’s second Test after Australia’s captain, Ricky Ponting, hinted that Ryan Harris was strongly in contention for a recall alongside Doug Bollinger. Bollinger is expected to replace Johnson, who was dropped following Australia’s toothless display during England’s 1 for 517 at the Gabba, while Cricinfo understands that the selectors have opted for Harris over Hilfenhaus on a wicket that is not expected to offer much conventional swing beyond the first day.”Hilfy’s strengths are his ability to swing the new ball, he’s very consistent, bowls in good areas and can tie batters down, as we saw at different times during the Brisbane Test,” said Ponting. “Ryan’s strengths are he’s grown up playing all his cricket here, he’s probably slightly quicker through the air, and he hits the wicket a bit harder than Ben does, and he’s probably a better reverse-swing bowler for later in the game, which comes into consideration in Adelaide.”Harris, who has a chronic knee injury, has been in excellent form on the domestic scene since returning from off-season surgery, while Hilfenhaus was Australia’s best bowler in the tour of India in October. Although Hilfenhaus launched Australia’s Ashes campaign in dramatic fashion by capturing Andrew Strauss for a third-ball duck in Brisbane, he failed to claim another wicket in 50.3 overs for the match. He impressed Ponting during his only two Tests to date, against New Zealand in March, during which he claimed nine wickets at 23.”Coming out of the game he played the other day, he had a good bowl yesterday and we didn’t expect all of our bowlers bowling every day before the game,” said Ponting. “That’s pretty much what the staff wanted them to do, to get their workload high enough leading into the Test. If you look at both Bollinger and Harris, what they’ve done in state cricket has been pretty impressive. I faced Dougie this morning and he was impressive, while Ryan was on the mark yesterday. They are obviously ready to go so we’ll work things out tomorrow morning.”

يحصل ميكسيوني سواء مع الأهلي أو أبها على 120 مليون شلن تنزاني في الموسم الواحد أي 1.2 مليون دولار وهو ما لا يستطيع سيمبا تدبيره لعودة اللاعب.

لكن كان هناك تواصل من قبل إدارة سيمبا مع الأهلي لمحاولة معرفة إمكانية التعاقد مع ميكيسوني بعد علمهم من وكيله بأنه لديه مشاكل تعاقدية مع العملاق المصري ومن الممكن رحيله لأن لا مانع لدى الأهلي في بيعه، بحسب صحيفة “Mwananchi” الموزمبيقية، من خلال مصادرها في النادي التنزاني.

Mostrou que vendeu caro essa derrota. É muito difícil pela maneira que foi, mas mostra uma reação do time em vários sentidos que nos deixa otimistas para pensar e, obviamente, continuar melhorando para ter uma temporada muito diferente das anteriores – disse o dirigente, reforçando sua aprovação à postura em campo.

– Em nenhum momento (houve soberba). Nem fora de campo nem dentro de campo. Quem acompanhou o jogo comprovou isso. Teve respeito. Graeme Swann insists there will be no hangover from England’s Ashes-retaining heroics in Melbourne as they eye a first series win in Australia in 24 years. The tourists partied hard after holding on to the trophy at the MCG but Swann, who details some of the exploits in his latest video diary, said everyone had re-focused on finishing the Test campaign on a high.”It’s been sorted out already,” Swann said after training at the SCG. “We haven’t had celebrations going on for many days. We had one night out after the game, you should celebrate a Test victory and an Ashes-retaining victory heavily. I tried to a lead a merry dance, but that was one night and we’ve moved on.”England will face an unfamiliar Australian line-up after the captain Ricky Ponting was ruled out with a broken finger. That has provided Michael Clarke with his first game in charge and Usman Khawaja, the No.3, and Michael Beer, the spinner, are both expected to debut. It should mean that England have a huge advantage with all their experience, but Swann remains wary of so many news faces.”On one hand there is a whole pile of pressure on them because it is a New Year’s Test match and they will be shaking like big dogs, but on the other hand coming in for your first game can be the best time you ever play because you don’t know what it is all about,” he said. “You’ve not got the pressure on your back … You have to hope it goes the first way as you don’t want two people on debut and one getting a five-for and the other a hundred.”Swann has 13 wickets for the series and has been satisfied with his contributions in the wins in Adelaide and Melbourne, but he starts this Test with different expectations on him. This pitch is traditionally a slow bowler’s surface and England will look to him to provide significant damage.”You always look forward to bowling on pitches renowned for spin, but that can bring pressure as well if people expect it to turn square like Sydney did 15 years ago,” he said. “I’m reliably informed by people in Australia that it doesn’t turn like it used to, but it will offer some assistance later on in the game.”Swann’s 64 Test wickets were the most in 2010 and he has been a key man in a series of England successes. “It’s been pretty much a dream year,” he said. “I got married in January, won the Twenty20World Cup [in May], retained the Ashes in December. If 2011 can be anything like that, I will be over the moon. It’s been a dream period for me.”We’ve played some very good cricket and there are not many England players who can say they have played in two Ashes, won one, retained the other and won a [Twenty20] World Cup. I’m pretty chuffed the way the last 12 months have gone.”Swann is not sitting back enjoying the view because there is still work to be done to ensure this side is the first since Mike Gatting’s in 1986-87 to win the Ashes in Australia. “In South Africa last year I thought I’d draw a line under the end of the year and we got absolutely hammered at the Wanderers,” he said. “I’m going to draw a line under this series after the series and hopefully we can win 3-1.”

No total da temporada, Vecchio disputou 13 jogos. Dois deles pela Libertadores e os outros 11 pelo Paulistão. Somados, são 1003 minutos em campo com a camisa do Santos. Para Jair, o retorno do jogador acontecerá de maneira natural.

– Não está em baixa técnica e nem houve qualquer tipo de problema. Vecchio é um cara fantástico. Deu uma declaração no vestiário depois do jogo muito legal. É um cara muito bom de grupo. Ele faz parte de um processo e pode ser que volte a jogar em breve – disse Jair, e completou:

– O grupo do Santos me abraçou, me sinto bem aqui. Treinador, às vezes, é muito chato, cobra, corrige, mostra vídeos e eu sinto que o grupo quer isso, quer mais e mais trabalho. O Santos tem um ótimo elenco e Vecchio faz parte disso, vibra no banco, é de grupo.

Com o sumiço de Vecchio, Jair passou a testar novas opções no meio-campo. Usou Jean Mota, Vitor Bueno e até o atacante Diogo Vitor no setor de criação. Contra o Palmeiras, entrou em campo com quatro atacantes: Eduardo Sasha, Rodrygo, Gabriel e Arthur Gomes, sem um meia fixo. O carioca de 39 anos busca solucionar o quebra-cabeça no time santista, já que dificilmente poderá contar com a chegada de algum reforço para a posição.
