Man United: Ten Hag Could Secure Big Sancho Upgrade In £54m "Diamond"

Manchester United are reportedly interested in making a move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer as Erik ten Hag aims to significantly bolster his attacking options.

The Old Trafford side will have only signed Mason Mount during the current transfer window and with the start of the Premier League season just over three weeks away, the Dutchman doesn’t have long in order to make another few signings.

Are Manchester United interested in Federico Chiesa?

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), United are the latest club to signal their interest in the Juventus winger.

Ten Hag will face some competition from Liverpool and Newcastle United for Chiesa, although with Champions League football gracing the Old Trafford pitch next season, it could be the ideal incentive in order to lure him to Manchester.

If the Serie A side were to receive a bid of €50m (£43m) for the 25-year-old whiz, then he ‘can leave’ Italy and the Red Devils may be tempted to launch a bid in the coming weeks.

How good is Federico Chiesa?

Before suffering a serious ACL injury in January 2022, Chiesa was primed to be the next darling of Italian football, especially with his exploits during his time at Fiorentina and with the national team.

The left-winger emerged onto the scene during the 2016/17 season and eventually registered 59 goal contributions – 34 goals and 25 assists – across just 153 games before joining the Old Lady in 2021.

He played a key role for Italy as they won their first European Championship since 1968 when he scored twice during Euro 2021, and it certainly appeared as though he was ready to explode and develop into one of the finest players in Italy.

It hasn’t quite worked out that way due to his injury and since returning to action, Chiesa managed just four goals and six assists last term, yet he could certainly be an upgrade on current United left-winger Jadon Sancho, with the Englishman struggling during his stint at the club.

Considering United shelled out a fee of £73m for the former Borussia Dortmund starlet, he has yet to live up to the expectation, scoring only 12 times and grabbing six assists across his two seasons at the club.

Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

Following a promising start to last term, Sancho missed a large chunk of the campaign due to physical and mental health issues, leading to his failure to claim a place in the England squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Although Chiesa also failed to sparkle last season, he still registered more shots per 90 (2.75 to 1.12), goal-creating actions per 90 (0.63 to 0.48) and was successful with a higher percentage of take-ons (53.3% to 42.3%) than Sancho, and although he didn’t score as much as league goals as the Englishman (six to two), it appears as though he posed a bigger attacking threat in terms of total shots and his ability to take on defenders.

Once hailed as a “diamond” by U23 scout Antonio Mango, Chiesa also had more league assists than the 23-year-old (five to three) and missed fewer big chances (one to two), suggesting he is able to create more chances for his teammates and there is no doubt that if he returns to his pre-injury form, he could be an upgrade on Sancho next season.

Crystal Palace Enter Race For "Excellent" £25k-p/w Colossus

Crystal Palace have now entered the race to sign Getafe goalkeeper David Soria, who could be brought in as a replacement for Vicente Guaita, according to reports from Spain.

What's the latest Crystal Palace transfer news?

Palace offered Guaita a new contract earlier in the transfer window, with it being reported that the Spaniard is happy at Selhurst Park, and is willing to battle Sam Johnstone for a place in the starting XI next season – however, he is yet to sign a new deal.

The 36-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract, meaning his future is in doubt, and he has now emerged as a transfer target for Getafe, as reported by Marca (via Sport Witness).

Getafe are targeting Guaita as a potential replacement for Soria, who has now been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest recently making their interest clear.

The Eagles have also now joined the race for the 30-year-old, viewing him as an option to replace their current goalkeeper, amid the doubt surrounding his future at Selhurst Park, given that he is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

In summary, Palace entering the race for Soria has caused Getafe to look at replacements for their goalkeeper, and Guaita has been "sounded loud" as a possible target, meaning the two clubs could end up swapping their goalkeepers this summer.

How good is David Soria?

Journalist Alvaro Canibe has recently hailed the £25k-per-week shot-stopper for the influence he has in the dressing room, as well as for his performances on the pitch, saying: "Thumbs up for David Soria. His excellent level on the pitch has only been surpassed by his courage, leadership and attitude off it. This season has made his importance clear. Captain without the armband. Colossal.

With an average Sofascore match rating of 6.97, the 6 foot 3 colossus was ranked as Getafe's second-best performing player in La Liga last season, and he particularly impressed when it came to saving penalties.

Up until April 8th last season, the Getafe star had saved four of the seven penalties he'd faced, more than any other goalkeeper in Europe's top five leagues at that stage of the campaign.

David Soria

Not only that, but the Madrid-born goalkeeper's save percentage in general is also very impressive, stopping an average of 75.3% of the shots he has faced per 90 over the course of the past year, placing him in the 81st percentile when compared to his positional peers.

The only potential criticism that could be made of the former Sevilla man is that he does not appear to be particularly good with his feet, given that he ranks in the 99th percentile for number of passes launched, and he is only in the 13th percentile for touches per 90.

That said, Soria could still be a really solid signing for Crystal Palace, as he would be more than capable of pushing Johnstone for a place in the starting XI next season.

Root shocked by Vaughan condemnation of England's 'lack of respect' for Test cricket

Michael Vaughan, Joe Root’s boyhood hero, has branded England’s batting “appalling” and suggested it was born from “a lack of respect” for the values of Test cricket.

George Dobell17-Jul-2017Michael Vaughan’s criticism of the England side is “unfair” according to England captain, Joe Root.Vaughan, Root’s boyhood hero, branded England’s batting “appalling” on the BBC’s and suggested it was born from “a lack of respect” for the values of Test cricket. “They look like they are playing a T20 game,” he said.England were bowled out for just 133 in the second innings at Trent Bridge, succumbing to the second biggest defeat, in terms of runs, in their history against South Africa. Across the game, they lost several wickets to oddly aggressive strokes, with Root himself guilty of a loose drive in the first innings and Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali falling in similarly aggressive fashion in the second innings. It was England’s seventh loss in their 10 most recent Tests. And it left Vaughan both unimpressed and suggesting that England were struggling to adjust having just played several months of white-ball cricket leading into the ICC Champions Trophy. He was not alone in his condemnation. Another former England captain, Nasser Hussain, blasted England for playing a “rubbish brand of cricket” on Sky Sports, while Geoff Boycott described the performance as “absolute tripe” on the BBC.But Root, who has seen Vaughan as a mentor, countered by saying England had simply suffered a bad game and that he “couldn’t believe” Vaughan would suggest such a thing.”That’s very unfair,” he said. “I can’t believe he’s actually said that, to be honest.”We pride ourselves on winning series like this and unfortunately we’ve played poorly this week.”While Root admitted some of England’s batting was “disappointing,” he insisted the result was not a fair representation of the team’s quality. He accepted, though, that England’s batsmen were struggling to adapt between limited-overs and Test cricket and warned they would have to learn the lessons quickly if they were to win a series that is currently squared at 1-1.”It was very disappointing the way we played today,” Root said. “We’re a side that doesn’t like giving anything away and unfortunately today that wasn’t a fair representation of how good we are as a team.”It’s important to stay calm. There’s a lot of cricket left to be played in this series. It’s important we don’t sulk and we don’t get too down on ourselves. We’re a good side and we don’t lose that overnight.”We need to learn the lessons quickly from this week. We didn’t assess the situation well enough in the first innings and then from that we couldn’t find a way to get back into the game.”A lot of sides do [struggle to adjust between formats] in world cricket: the amount of white-ball cricket we play and the crossover between formats.”Part of Test cricket is trying to find a balance [between defence and attack] and, if it’s not your strength, you build it into your natural game. You have periods where you can absorb a bit of pressure and find the right moment to apply it when chances come along.”Throughout this game we have not done that very well at all. We are capable of doing it and have done it previously but this wasn’t a very good example of it.”But it’s part and parcel of Test cricket. We need to be better at that. There’s no shying away from it. We need to make sure we learn quickly and, if we are in a similar situation at The Oval, for example, we play it slightly smarter.”The ways we’ve gone about it previously haven’t worked so we have to look for something different and make sure we work very hard at that and make sure it sticks.”

Broad in doubt for Lord's Test after suffering heel injury

Stuart Broad has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of the Test series against South Africa after requiring a scan on his heel

George Dobell21-Jun-2017Stuart Broad has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of the Test series against South Africa. Broad bowled just one over before leaving the pitch as his Nottinghamshire side defeated Leicestershire by an innings after complaining of pain in his left heel. An England spokesman subsequently confirmed he would have a scan in the next 24 hours to ascertain the extent of the problem. The news is likely to cause concern in the England camp ahead of the Test series, starting at Lord’s on July 6. England are already likely to be without Chris Woakes, who is recovering from a side strain, while Ben Stokes played in the Champions Trophy with a sore knee and James Anderson has just recovered from a thigh injury.Broad will also be keen to play in the Royal London Cup final at Lord’s on July 1, while England would have wanted him to gain some pink-ball experience in the round of day-night Championship matches that is scheduled for next week. It may well be that he is rested from one or other game as a precaution even if the scan shows nothing more than bruising.Broad has managed his heel problem for some time. While specially made boots have alleviated difficulties, it is likely that he rarely bowls pain free these days. While Peter Moores, the Nottinghamshire coach, stressed that Broad left the field purely as a precaution and would not have done if the context of the match had been different – Notts were cruising to victory – the fact that he is undergoing a scan and the proximity to the Test series suggest the issue may be a little more serious than suggested.”Stuart had a bit of pain in his heel,” Moores said. “He’s had it for a while. If the situation had been different he could have pushed on through it but there was no need to so he came off and we’ll monitor it and look after him.”

Massive Liverpool Exit News Regarding 33-Year-Old

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson's move to Al Ettifaq could make big progress this weekend, according to a new update regarding his future.

What is the latest Jordan Henderson transfer news?

The 33-year-old has been a wonderful servant for the Reds over the years, arriving back in 2011 and initially suffering a tough spell at the club, with his exit even possible early on.

Henderson has grown as the years have passed, however, and he eventually became Liverpool skipper when Steven Gerrard departed in 2015. He has gone to win all there is to win for the Reds, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League the following year.

In total, the £140,000-a-week midfielder has racked up 492 appearances for the Reds as well as 77 caps for England in what has been a glittering career, being hailed as "world-class" by Micah Richards.

All of a sudden, though, it looks as though Henderson's Liverpool exit is imminent, with endless claims in recent days suggesting he wants to join Gerrard at Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia – and it is now a case of the two clubs agreeing a fee.

henderson-premier-league-liverpool-klopp-transfer-gossip-reds

What has been said about Jordan Henderson's Liverpool future?

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are set to press ahead with sealing Henderson's exit over the weekend, as his time at Anfield seemingly reaches its conclusion:

"Liverpool will press ahead on Saturday with finalising the sale of Jordan Henderson to Al Ettifaq in a deal worth £82million in total.

"The Anfield skipper, 33, has agreed a two-year contract with the Saudi club that includes the option of a third year in a deal that will see his salary rise to £700,000 per week – more than £36million per year.

"The Saudi club are confident the move will now be completed soon, putting an end to the England international’s glittering 12-year Anfield career. Liverpool are expected to agree a fee of around £10million for their skipper, who has two years left on his deal."

The thought of Henderson no longer being at Liverpool is a strange one, but it does feel like this is the end, assuming an agreement is reached over the amount he leaves for this summer.

While the Englishman was way below his best last year and his past his peak as a footballer given his age, he still has plenty to offer for club and country, and could have taken up James Milner's squad role moving forward.

It looks as though Henderson isn't happy doing that, though, potentially being irked by no longer being seen as a key man, and if his move now doesn't go through, the situation could become awkward, having made it fairly clear that he wants to depart Anfield before the new Premier League season gets underway.

Ideally for Liverpool, Henderson would still end up staying put, even though he may have a bit of work to do in winning the fans back, but that would be a surprise at this point, and it feels far more likely that he has played his final game for the club following 12 memorable years at Anfield.

"Sloppy" Leeds star slammed in 2-0 loss to Man United

Jamie Shackleton has been slammed for being ‘overrun and outgunned’ in Leeds United’s midfield when the Peacocks came up against Manchester United in a preseason clash earlier this week.

So, what has happened so far during Leeds United’s preseason?

It wasn’t the start to preseason preparations that Leeds would’ve been hoping for, and a loss to fierce rivals United is certainly not the way new boss Daniel Farke would’ve wanted to get his tenure at the Yorkshire club underway either.

Daniel Farke

The teams played the game in Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium to a sold out crowd, and despite Leeds now competing in the Championship, the game itself was a fairly competitive one.

By halftime, the game was still level, and it took until the 67th minute for United youngster Noam Emeran to finally make the incisive move and open the scoring for the Red Devils.

It took just another 14 minutes for 19-year-old Joe Hugill to double the score, but by then, the game was already out of sight for the Whites.

While a few Leeds players, notably captain Liam Cooper and Ian Poveda, shone during the game, some looked more than a little rusty after a few weeks off, specifically Jamie Shackleton.

According to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, the 23-year-old, who was given a 5/10, ‘looked overrun and outgunned in the middle. Guilty of one notably sloppy pass which was picked off inside the Leeds box.’

Is Jamie Shackleton good enough?

His poor showing against United might be just a single game in the eyes of new boss Farke, but it might be time for the club to cut their losses on the Hemsworth-born midfielder.

The Leeds youth product spent last season on loan with Championship side Millwall but started just 17 games for the side, and, according to WhoScored, he averaged a pretty poor rating of 6.25 across the season.

His underlying numbers don’t look great either, with FBref, who compare players in a similar position across what they define as the next best eight competitions, placing him in just the top 37% for successful take-ons and clearances, the top 46% for blocks, the top 51% for touches in the opposition’s penalty area and the top 52% for progressive carries, all per 90.

Those are his standout attributes from the last 12 months as well, so there isn’t a single attribute for which he is above average, which should be ringing alarm bells in the minds of Leeds staff.

To top it all off, he was named in The Second Tier’s ‘Worst XI’ of the season in January.

Who are Leeds United playing in preseason?

Unfortunately for Farke, things don’t get much easier in their next preseason game, as Leeds take on French giants AS Monaco in York’s LNER Community Stadium on Saturday, July 22nd.

The Principality club finished in a somewhat underwhelming sixth place in the league last year, but with players like Wissam Ben Yedder and Breel Embolo, they should be a good challenge for Leeds.

Things look a little easier for the Whites in their final two games before the season starts as they take on Premier League side Nottingham Forest in Burton’s Pirelli Stadium on Thursday, July 27th.

Leeds should feel confident enough going into this game as the home side came out on top in both fixtures last season, with The Garibaldi only beating Leeds 1-0 in February.

The final preseason game sees Farke’s men travel to Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh to take on Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian on Sunday, July 30th.

The Jambos finished in fourth spot last season and could prove a challenge for Leeds, despite the Yorkshire club’s 50% win rate against the club.

Unadkat grows in confidence after Rising Pune show faith

Medium pacer Jaydev Unadkat says the belief that Rising Pune Supergiant team leadership has shown in him by regularly using him at the death has given him the confidence to succeed

ESPNcricinfo staff06-May-2017When Jaydev Unadkat was picked up by Rising Pune Supergiant for INR 30 lakh at this year’s IPL auction, all he would have likely wanted was more game-time. Unadkat, 25, has turned out for three franchises – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders – and over the last two years he has played only two matches, one each for Daredevils and Knight Riders respectively.Life at Rising Pune, though, has turned out to be pleasantly different for Unadkat. Having been preferred to the misfiring Ashok Dinda in the early stages of the tournament, Unadkat has not only nailed down a first XI slot but has also played a key role in Rising Pune winning seven of their last eight games. With 17 wickets at an economy-rate of 7.71, Unadkat is Rising Pune’s second-highest wicket-taker behind Imran Tahir (18) having played four fewer games. On Saturday, his spell of 5 for 30 against Sunrisers Hyderabad was special on more than one count as he defended 13 runs off the last over. As if bowling a maiden wasn’t jaw-dropping enough, he raised the awesomeness quotient with a hat-trick as Sunrisers fell short chasing 149. Unadkat dismissed Bipul Sharma off the second delivery and then induced a skier from Rashid Khan to complete a caught-and-bowled chance before snaring Bhuvneshwar Kumar. All three deliveries came off slower balls. Two weeks ago, Unadkat was entrusted with the responsibility of bowling the last over against Mumbai Indians. Mumbai needed 17 runs to win, but Unadkat picked up two wickets, including that of Rohit Sharma as Rising Pune scraped through by three runs. The experience of bowling well at the clutch, Unadkat said, prepared him for the Sunrisers challenge.”To have been already through it, having been there, done that, you have the confidence in yourself, your skills,” Unadkat told iplt20.com. “To bowl those cutters is something that has been working for me. I have been hit for some runs in the last game and some other games as well. But, as we talked in the meeting as well, just sticking to those plans and just doing what I am good at, bowling to my strengths has been working well. Really happy we defended that low-scoring total and have gone up in the points table.”If not for Unadkat’s decisive final act, Ben Stokes would have been a unanimous choice for what would have been his fourth Man-of-the-Match award of the tournament. Stokes first smashed a 25-ball 39 to boost Rising Pune’s total and then removed Sunrisers’ top-three batsmen – David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson – to scuttle their chase. After the match, though, Stokes was happy to take turns with Unadkat to play interviewer-interviewee in a light-hearted chat. When Stokes asked if Unadkat reckoned he could secure a hat-trick in the last over, the latter laughed and shook his head in disbelief, not least because he had gone for 21 runs in the 19th over against Knight Riders in Rising Pune’s previous game.”It’s crazy. To go for some 20-21 runs in the last match, and to then come out here and defend 13 runs is something special. Keeping it simple is what has been working well for all of us,” Unadkat said. “All of us have been helping each other; to take those wickets in the Powerplay, middle overs. At times I have taken those wickets, at times you [Stokes] have. Immy bhai [Imran Tahir] has been brilliant for us as well. I think taking those wickets throughout the innings is what has been helping me in the death overs as well.”

Tottenham Could Hijack Bid For "Exceptional" Star

Tottenham Hotspur could hijack Fulham's free transfer bid to sign forward Manor Solomon following his impressive Craven Cottage loan spell, according to reliable journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

Who will Spurs sign after Maddison?

Spurs, much to the delight of new manager Ange Postecoglou, have moved swiftly for some of their top targets in this last fortnight.

Guglielmo Vicario joins from Empoli to shore up their goalkeeping options, while chairman Daniel Levy also managed to sign playmaker James Maddison from Leicester City for £40m.

These two transfers, coupled with the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus, mark a solid start to this summer transfer window and reports suggest they're also after a star centre-half.

Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven and others have been linked with moves to north London while there is a belief that Postecoglou wishes to add attacking reinforcements as well.

The departures of both Arnaut Danjuma, who has returned to parent club Villarreal, and winger Lucas Moura on a Bosman have left Spurs slightly short of wide forwards.

As a result, the north Londoners are said to be keen on a move for Shakhtar Donetsk's Solomon, coming after a FIFA ruling allowed players to leave Ukraine freely amid the ongoing war with Russia.

Fulham's Manor Solomon

The legislation allows Solomon to halt his contract, without approval from Shakhtar, and move wherever he pleases – meaning Tottenham can sign him for free.

As a result, The Evening Standard and Kinsella claim Spurs are "interested in hijacking" Fulham's "free transfer bid" for the Israel winger, as the Whites are also keen on him following his 2022/23 loan spell in west London.

While not much is added beyond that, it does appear Postecoglou and Levy are eyeing fresh faces in the forward areas.

Who is Manor Solomon?

Solomon scored in five straight games between February and March, bagging four overall in the league, with the 23-year-old impressing during his temporary Fulham spell last campaign.

The winger has also been heralded by sections of the Israeli press, as sports journalist Josh Halickman describes Solomon as an "exceptional athlete" and puts him up there with his country's most influential sportspeople of recent times.

Fulham boss Marco Silva also praised Solomon for his flair and capability in one-on-one situations.

"He has scored some important goals for us," said Silva.

"More importantly for him because it has boosted his confidence and he is different from the other players in what he has.

"His one-v-one situation is really strong and coming from the left he is important."

Auckland's loss hands Canterbury third Shield

Canterbury clinched their third Plunket Shield title in four years despite suffering a seven-wicket loss to Wellington in Christchurch. The winners were decided after defending champions Auckland conceded a three-wicket defeat to Central Districts in Napi

ESPNcricinfo staff01-Apr-2017The winners of the Plunket Shield were decided in the last hour of the last round of matches as Auckland, who needed a win to lift the trophy, went down to Central Districts by three wickets and Canterbury clinched their third title in four years. Canterbury were leading the table with 101 points before the last round, followed by Auckland with 93 points. While Canterbury went down to Wellington by seven wickets, taking four points to finish on 105, Auckland’s loss meant they finished third with 98 points after being overtaken by Northern Districts, who beat Otago by three wickets.Auckland had a sniff of victory and the title by reducing Central Districts to 281 for 7 in the chase of 301 before an unbeaten 43 from Tom Bruce steered Central Districts home, in Napier. The chase was led by George Worker’s 130 off 144, his sixth first-class hundred, but they stuttered from 192 for 2 to 213 for 5, and soon 281 for 7, before Bruce’s rescue act earned them 16 points. Earlier, Auckland were restricted to 200 for 9, thanks to a five-for from Navin Patel, after a rain-affected first day. But they fought back by dismissing Central Districts for 181 as Colin Munro (3 for 22) and Tarun Nethula (4 for 49) disturbed the opposition’s top and middle order. With a slender lead, Auckland had a shot at victory by declaring on 281 for 7 after fifites from Michael Guptill-Bounce (52), Munro (56) and Mark Chapman (55) but Central Districts overhauled the 301 target in under 70 overs by scoring at 4.37 runs per over.In Christchurch, Canterbury began the final day leading Wellington by 59 runs with only four wickets in hand. Troubled by the Wellington quicks, none of Canterbury’s top five could score in excess of 15 in the second innings. Captain Andrew Ellis, however, stretched his overnight score of 34 to 110 – his ninth first-class century – while No. 9 Logan van Beek added an unbeaten 54 to his first-innings score of 66, pushing the lead past 200, prompting Canterbury to declare on 293 for 8.Chasing 227, Wellington secured the victory for the loss of only three wickets, piloted by an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 170 between Hamish Marshall (105* off 94) and Tom Blundell (63*). It was the second win in ten matches for Wellington, whose tally of 86 points earned them a fourth-place finish.Blundell had earlier anchored Wellington’s reply to Canterbury’s first-innings tally of 197 with a 113. He added 184 runs for the sixth wicket with Peter Younghusband, who fell three short of a maiden first-class century. The duo helped their side take a 67-run lead, before Canterbury medium-pacer Will Williams rolled them over over with a career best 4 for 37.Northern Districts, meanwhile, stole a three-wicket win against Otago, with heroic centuries from Daryl Mitchell (106) and Tim Seifert (151) in the fourth innings in Dunedin. Like Central Districts, Northern Districts were set a stiff target – of 347 – but the twin centuries meant three wickets from each of Michael Rae and Rhys Phillips went in vain.Northern Districts’ fourth win of the tournament was set up by 11 wickets from Ish Sodhi. Otago had earlier secured a first-innings lead of 157 after a double-century from Anaru Kitchen (207) helped them score 432 for 8. Northern Distrcits were bowled out for 275 in reply, only Dean Brownlie scoring a half-century, with Nathan Smith and Rae striking thrice each. However, Sodhi’s 7 for 59 in the third innings meant Otago declared at 189 for 8, despite strong contributions from the top order, and Northern Districts aced the daunting chase by losing no more than seven wickets.

Tottenham Confident About Signing "Magnificent" £41k-p/w Ace

Tottenham Hotspur are confident about signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, according to a recent report from Football Insider.

What's the latest Tottenham transfer news?

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has now identified Cameron Carter-Vickers as a potential target at centre-back, with the Australian keen to reunite with his former player, who he signed for Celtic on a permanent deal last summer.

Micky van de Ven is another option for Spurs, with the Wolfsburg defender being placed on the shortlist, following recent talks, however they will have to do battle for his signature with Liverpool, who have now joined the race.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently detailed that Adarabioyo has "decided" to leave Fulham this summer, rather than seeing out the one year remaining on his contract, potentially opening the door for a move to north London.

As a result of the Fulham defender's contract situation, Football Insider report that Tottenham are confident they will be able to lure him to N17 this summer, however he is not near the top of their shortlist, with the transfer window still at an early stage.

The 25-year-old could become a "real option" for Postecoglou later this summer, and Spurs feel he could be available for a cut-price fee, as this window may be Fulham's last chance to cash-in.

It is also detailed that Postecoglou has made bringing in a new centre-back one of Tottenham's main priorities.

Should Tottenham sign Adarabioyo?

The centre-back managed to cement himself as a key player for Fulham in the latter stages of the 2022-23 season, starting the last ten Premier League games, and he put in a string of quality performances.

In the Cottagers' final home game, the £41k-per-week defender recorded a 7.4 Sofascore match rating, winning a whopping ten of the 13 duels he contested, while he also displayed his dominance in the air by winning eight aerial duels in a 3-1 win at Everton.

Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo

Hailed as "magnificent" by members of the media, the 6 foot 4 colossus ranks in the 76th percentile for aerials won per 90 in the past year, and in the 98th percentile for clearances, however he does not rank highly for tackles, interceptions or blocks.

That said, Adarabioyo's performances in the second half of last season indicate he could be ready to make the step up to a club the size of Tottenham, at least as a back up option, and it could be a low-risk move, if he is available for a cut-price fee.
